About You-
Name: Tia
Age: 23
Height: 5'1"
Pre-pregnancy weight: 115 lbs
About The Father-
Name: Josh
Age: 24
Height: 5'10"
Are you still together: Yes- Married for a year as of January 14th!
About Your Pregnancy-
Is this your first pregnancy: Yeah, and most likely my last.
When did you find out you were pregnant: October 22nd, 2011
Was it planned: A surprise but we knew there was a direct correlation to sex and babies ;)
What was your first reaction: I didn't believe the test. I made Josh get up and look at it. So I guess you can say a little shocked.
Who was with you when you found out: Just me, but I woke Josh up shortly after.
Who was the first person you told: My husband, obviously.
How did your parents react: I sent them a picture message of the test, and they asked me if it was an April fools joke. Hahaha. They were shocked but surprisingly happy.
How far along are you: 17 weeks and 6 days (18 weeks tomorrow!)
What was your first symptom: Nausea and dizziness... not a symptom but the cats were freaking out around me and acting like I smelt bad.
What is your due date: July 3rd/4th, 2011
Do you know the sex of the baby: Not yet, and it's driving me bonkers! We will know in a couple weeks on February 16th!
If so, what is it: Hopefully a baby, lol ;)
Have you picked out names: Yup, we are set on Emmalina Sophia for a girl, and Lucas Gray for a boy.
How much weight have you gained: Enough for my midwife to tell me to stop :\
Do you have stretch marks: Nothing noticeable yet. I'm really hoping that it won't get too bad.
Have you felt the baby move: Yes! Started to feel flutters around 14 weeks, which turned into taps, and a couple days ago I have felt soft kicks. They are getting bigger each week, so I'm hoping I can feel them with my hand on my uterus soon!
Have you heard the heartbeat: Yes, and it's a beautiful 150 bpm!!!
What's your favorite thing about being pregnant:Not too much. Ha, I am excited to eventually be able to meed my baby at the end of all this, and I like feeling them move around, just not while I'm trying to sleep!
What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant: Where should I start?!?! Lol. I'm not a fan of the exhaustion, gassy-ness, late night pee trips, constipation, heart burn, sore gums, greasy and yet dry hair and skin, throwing up, nausea... hmmm... the list could go on.
What traits do you think the baby will get from you and the father: I think that our child will probably get his height and his relaxed attitude, but other than that they will look mostly like me :P Dark hair, dark eyes, and cute button nose.
What types of foods have you been craving: I've been craving mostly dairy and sweets. It seems to change from week to week as well. The list of all the cravings I've had are way too long. Right now, I've been craving tuna sandwiches for some reason, and hot cocoa.
What type of vitamins are you taking: I started off taking a gummy prenatal vitamin, they were the sour type, but they made me throw up a lot. I switched to a Flinstone's chewable, only to find out that it contained aspartame in it. I then tried Belly Bar prenatal vitamins, which also made me sick. So I finally switched to a regular adult gummy multivitamin, that is not sour, and I've had no issues since keeping it down.
Are you reading any baby books: I started reading baby books, but to be honest I got kind of bored of them and stopped reading them. I was reading What to Expect When You're Expecting, and Your Pregnancy Week By Week. I tend to be a hypochondriac and I don't know why but these books seem to like to be able to point out all the things that could go wrong. I just don't need that extra stress!
Did you/are you getting any ultrasounds: We had the 12 week NT scan to check for downs syndrome and trysomy defects (our risk ended up being 1:10,000 which is the best you can get). We will be having the anatomy scan at 21 weeks and 1 day, and we will hopefully find out the sex at that appointment if baby is cooperating! (I can't wait!) That will probably be it for ultrasounds.
Will you be having a baby shower: My mom and sister are throwing my shower for me, which will be some point in April. I don't really know any of the details and they are keeping stuff secret from me.
Have you bought anything for the baby yet, or set up the nursery: We have yet to buy anything for the baby, other than a frame for their ultrasound. I did start a registry at Baby's R Us, but that's about it. We probably won't start buying anything including furniture until after the anatomy scan. We don't technically have room for a nursery so we have nothing planned yet. Hopefully we will find a house soon though so I can get going on that!
About the birth-
Will you keep the baby: Silly question. Obviously, this baby is my consolation prize for all this torture I've endured!
Home or hospital birth: Hospital- the whole home birth is too much for me. It would be like reliving the murder of my uterus every time I had to be in that room.
Natural or medicated birth: My goal is to go into the hospital more than 1/2 way dilated, the less meds the better. I don't want it to interfere with me having a natural birth and I want to prevent having a C-section.
Who will be in the delivery room with you: My hubby-pooh Josh, although he claims he's not going to watch, just be there for moral support. And of course my midwife and nurse staff.
Will you breastfeed: Yes, it's cheap and hopefully will help me lose this baby fat faster. I also plan to pump and freeze. My goal is to wean by the time they eat solids / start getting their teeth in (can you say OUCH?!?!?)
Do you think you'll need a c-section: My goal is to avoid having one. Unless it's medically necessary then I hope not.
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time: I will probably be crying the whole way to the hospital from the pain, and all the way home from the idea that they let me take a baby home (I mean they really trust us to be parents? Lmao.) I think Josh will cry when he sees the baby for the first time. lol. What can I say, it's an emotional event.
What's the first thing you might say to him/her: Happy birthday! Mommy loves you!
Would you let someone videotape the birth: NO. I'm sorry but no cameras or video cams, my crotch will not be made a spectacle. I'm not sure that any child would want to watch their mom push them out anyways.
Are you excited about the birth, or scared: I am excited to meet my child, but as the time comes closer to my due date I will be scared shitless.
